Performance

150 Years of the Avant-Garde

-   a concert series first created and performed by Lois Svard in 1999.   The Series celebrates radical ideas in piano music from Franz Liszt in the 1850s to György Ligeti and Annea Lockwood in the 1990s, demonstrating that the avant-garde has always been with us, even in the works that we now consider to be a part of the standard repertoire.    The concerts include works for prepared piano, digital keyboard and microtonal tunings, works influenced by jazz and rock, minimalism, the new Romanticism, and more.
